Easy DIY Cow Costume

Halloween…as I’ve said before, I love it!  It’s a day when I get to be someone other than me, and no one feels the need to call the police.  Every year when fall arrives, I start brainstorming what I want to dress up like.  I have donned my DIY Halloween costumes at work when no one else was dressed up. Maybe some of the customers were a little concerned about the pharmacist who looked like a zombie filling their prescriptions, but I didn’t care.

Then came the year that my little boy was born.  The year that was a total blur, and the greatest year of my life.  I was 40, a new mom, and my mind and body were trying to recover from being pregnant and old (which is another post all on its own).

October rolled around and naturally one of my coworkers asked me what was my son going to be for Halloween.  What? Halloween? You mean I have to figure out how to work that into my life now too?!

Halloween…It’s not just for kids!

Fall is my favorite time of year by far.  I can smell it coming before it even arrives.  I love the vibrant colors, the crisp cool breeze, and the wonderful smells. Something about this time of year makes my entire perception of everything change.  I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is, but it’s a definite change in my state of mind.  I think most people feel this way when summer is in full swing, but not me.  Summer makes my pre-menopausal hot flashes feel like I’m standing on the border of hell.

And then there’s Halloween…I have to admit, I LOVE IT, and I can’t remember a time that I didn’t!! When I was little, it was pretty much all about the candy, and then in college at UNC it was all about the crazy.  On Halloween, students converge onto Franklin Street to show off their costume creativity or just to show off.

Halloween is the only day of the year that I can dress up as anyone or anything I want to be and actually go out in public without people looking at me like I need to be institutionalized.  Well, maybe some days I do need to be institutionalized, but I digress.
